Houseplants With Green And Red Leaves

1. Caladium

This plant has beautiful red and green leaves shaped like a heart with stunning pink, purple or white veins.

Caladium plants are nicknamed 'angel wings' because they, along with the foliage, are angelic.

It is possible to see them through their growing phases in pots all year. However, you must know they are to be provided with sufficient sunlight and warmth.

There are several cultivars of caladiums with green and red leaves. We have the Caladium Bicolor 'Florida Sweetheart,' with bold green leaves and red edges, the Caladium 'bombshell,' with robust red leaves and fat green margins, and the Caladium Bicolor 'Red Flash,' to mention just a few.

2. Solenostemon 'Pineapple' (Coleus 'Pineapple')

For the Anthurium, it is best to grow them indoors in containers as they detest bright light but love increased humidity.

4. Chinese Evergreen (Aglaonema)

Some cultivars of the Chinese Evergreen plant have variegated red and green leaves. Examples of such are the Aglaonema 'Siam Aurora,' which has got rich red veins atop its green leaves; the Aglaonema 'Red Anjamani,' with big, red oval-shaped leaves and thin edges and Aglaonema 'Valentine' with eye-catching red leaves and speckled green coloration.

Talking about the Aglaonema 'Valentine,' they have been proven to be air-purifying plants by scrubbing benzene. It sits pretty amongst the list of fellow plants with the same quality, released by NASA.

They are native to Asian sub-tropics that prefer moderate watering, partial shade, and temperature levels not less than 65°F.

5. Red Leaf 'Begonias'

Red leaf Begonias are mostly grown indoors but would survive when grown outdoors, too, especially in tropical regions.

This plant is a perennial plant native to the South Pacific. Ti plant has been around and used as a houseplant for ages. They add color to your space with their green and red marked leaves. Often, you will have them spot cream edges.

This plant is so attractive that a lot of people in several cultures use them as decorative plants.

We cannot help but recommend the Cordyline Fruiticosa 'Firebrand,' they give off a tropical feel with their dark green and red leaves.

7. Poinsettia (Euphorbia Pulcherrima)

Confetti Blush, under the right conditions, will attain an overall plant size of 12 inches. The right conditions include well-draining soil that is moist but not overly wet, moderate watering, and equal exposure to partial sun and shade.

20. Red Moon Cactus (Gymnocalycium Mihanovichii)

The red moon Cactus makes a great show when placed on window sills. The bright red color of this perennial cactus is a result of its lack of Chlorophyll.

They are native to Paraguay, Bolivia (desert), Argentina, and Brazil.

This plant prefers full sun to partial shade conditions. With that and light watering, that is, only when you notice that the soil is dry, they can attain an overall size of about 6 inches.

The best care practice for this plant is to see that they are not soggy, as water retention might lead to root rot.

If the red moon cactus will be used as a window sill plant, place it on windows that the morning sun shines in through. Please note that direct sunlight will lead to plant burn.

21. 'Revelation Maroon' Begonia (Begonia Rex-cultorum)

With the Saint Andrew's Cross, you do not need heavy or even moderate watering. All that is required of you is to water sparsely anytime the soil is dry.
