Violas are known to grow beautifully and develop well in areas with a steady flow of water. But then how often do you water violas? Ideally, violas need an inch of water during per week during their growing period.

Violas thrive in soil that is richly filled with hummus soil and one which is moist. It's important to pay attention to the type of soil and amount of water your violas get exposed to, as this will determine how healthy your plant would grow.

When growing violas, it's essential to know that overwatering could cause serious problems to the plant, which is why we're going to show you everything you need to know about watering violas today.

Let's get started!

How Often to Water Newly Planted Violas

Newly planted violas always need to remain watered thoroughly and immediately after you plant them.

Taking them from the container you bought them to your yard or garden is quite strenuous to them.

This is why you need to plant and water them in wet and humid soil areas properly. This is necessary for them to quickly and easily get used to their new environment.

It would be best if you did this manually without the help of the rain.

How Often Do You Water Violas After They Start Growing?

How Often Do You Water Violas

How often do you water violas? Like I mentioned earlier, violas need just an inch of water per week when they are growing. In places where rain falls adequately, you might not need to pay a high level of attention to this rule.

Furthermore, you will want to make sure that the soil used to plant your violas isn’t waterlogged, and if it is, find a way to drain this high amount of water in the soil.

The idea is to make sure that your soil is just not waterlogged and moist, as that could lead to the death of the violas plant.

There are situations where watering manually needs to be done. This needs to be done when the sun comes up to allow the foliage to merge with the sun. You then allow everything to dry all through the day.

Cautions To Take While Watering Violas

Though you need to water violas, don’t do it however you please. There are excellent practices you could use on matters related to violas. These ensure great irrigation that's necessary for your violas to grow appropriately.

It doesn't matter if you are making use of an irrigation system or manual watering system. You need to avoid any application or design which initiates any sort or form of overhead watering. Send the water instead directly to the soil.

You then help to prevent water that stands on leaves and flowers. It also ends up controlling fungal rot illnesses which could come up.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much should you water potted violas?

To grow your potted violas, you need to water your plant often. Make sure the soil is not soggy but constantly moist.

Do violas need to have so much water daily?

As stated earlier, these violas need an inch of water weekly all through their season of growth and development.

You might need to reduce the rate at which you manually water them when you are in the rainy season, providing them with more than enough irrigation.

Conclusion

At this point, you know how often you water violas. The rate at which you water the violas would let you know if your plant would die or bloom.

When watering manually, water them using an inch of water weekly through the growing season. Growing violas from seed can be finicky.

It is easier to purchase a viola that’s already established from local nurseries. This way, it is easier to water them, and your viola blooms way faster.
